What is an Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)?
An arm lift, or brachioplasty, is an outpatient cosmetic surgical procedure designed to improve the appearance of the upper arms through a combination of removing excess skin and fat tissue. This procedure tightens and reshapes the upper arm to ensure a better, more comfortable appearance.
Who is the Ideal Candidate?
Ideal candidates are healthy without serious medical conditions, have a positive outlook, do not smoke or use tobacco, and have realistic expectations about improving the appearance of their upper arms.
Surgical Technique
The procedure involves an incision along the inner aspect of the upper arm, sometimes extending into the axillary region. This allows the excess skin and tissue to be removed, and often liposuction is combined to further improve the contour of the entire arm. Surgical drains are sometimes placed to assist with healing and prevent fluid accumulation under the incisions.
What is Recovery Like?
You will be given specific instructions to follow after your procedure. You will be given medications to help with discomfort. A surgical dressing and compression wraps are placed during the procedure; this will help with swelling and support. You will have activity restrictions for approximately 4-6 weeks following surgery.
Long-lasting Results
Having an arm lift will improve the appearance of the upper arms, removing excess skin and tissue. The final result will help you feel more confident about yourself. Most patients report a very high satisfaction level after this procedure.
